Lots of fabric .....

Buying, that is.
There is a lovely fabric shop in a suburb not too far from my home. Limited patchwork fabrics, actually limited every type of fabric but lots of different types of fabric. You know what I mean, stretch, cotton, satins, silks, flannelette. Plus lots of lace, ribbon and fancy edging, flowers and lots of buttons. Now imagine a very small shop, I mean small, and crammed pack with all these beauties. I visited this emporium today with my gd to buy fabrics for our expectant gd and came away with a mixture of all of the above. I especially like the man who owns the shop and how he measures the fabric with a stick measuring a metre. This is what I purchased. Lots of baby sewing on the agenda.





During our grandies sleepover we have added to our veggie patch. Hopefully lots of fresh vegies for summer.

Long time, no blog.....

Huge apologies for my tardiness.
Since coming home time has flown by. A little sewing has happened but most can't be shown as it is for a swap. What I can show is this.....

My present to myself from my tax return.
Apart from normal life, I have also gone back to work two days a week. I'm quite liking the experience of a casual, meaning NO responsibility. After 15 years of total responsibility and staff supervision this is a huge change and I am wondering why I put up with the bulls..t for so long. The bit I am loving is of course the pay, marvellous!

We have another granddaughter due in January and I plan on making a few outfits for her before her arrival. Visited spotlight today and bought fabric and lace extra. Results will be shown in coming posts.

Catchup......

Apologies for my no blogging status of late. Hubbie and I have been having a great time travelling through the Northern Territory and western Queensland, working our way home, slowly. Before home we hope to catch up with friends that we have met on our travels.
I thought I would include some of the fabulous sunrise and sunsets we have seen on our trip.

Lots of beaut places......

Since my last post, we have been to lots of amazing places. We stayed at Eighty Mile Beach for several days. Amazing shells! Fisherman galore. We had some white fin salmon given to us which was delicious.
We finally reached Broome and stayed for 5 days. We loved it. Stayed at a nice van park and had a giant site next to the pool which came in handy every afternoon after sight seeing. Visited the Pearl farm, markets, shopped, sunset at Cable Beach and went to the cinema under the stars. All terrific.
Dropped into Derby for a day, Fitzroy Crossing and Halls Creek before getting to the Bungle Bungle National Park. Today we went on a 4wd bus adventure in the park. Went on 4 walks, Picininny Lookout, Cathedral Gorge, Dome Loop and Echidna Gorge. What great rock formations.
No sewing due to heat and humidity but I did see a great patchwork piece today done by an artist out at the national park.
Interesting facts learnt n the last 10 days:
Pearl shell is used in lipstick and makeup
Pearl shells are used for 8years growing pearls
Houses in this north western area don't have gutters and new houses are made from corrugated colourbond
The same houses don't have letter boxes, they must have post boxes.
Boab trees are very cute, haha.

Exmouth....

We have had a wonderful two weeks of trouble free travel.
Free camped at Quobba Point, 4 nights at the very beautiful Coral Bay staying at a very overpriced underwhelming caravan park and 4 fantastic nights in Exmouth staying at theLighthouse Caravan Park. We have been through the adjoining National Park swimming in perfect turquoise water, ohing and ahhing at fish, views of the Ningaloo Reef and travelling by boat up the Yardie Gorge. All amazing and possibly my favourite place visited so far. No stitching happening at the moment.
