Long time no blog ......

Six months has gone quite quickly. I love trolling wonderful quilty blogs but because of various reasons have been very neglectful of blogging myself.
During my blogging hiatus lots of changes have happened in our life. My hubbie and I LOVE caravanning. Meeting people and visiting places in our wonderful country.
This was our first little caravan.

We decided that we definatley wanted to keep travelling so we have upgraded to this, my penthouse, haha.

During our absences our grandies kept growing. Virtual hugs are standard!

And lastly, I have finished a table topper, for the van of course. The 'exploding block' a tutorial from Missouri Quilt Company.

Work, some sewing and a lovely dinner ...............

I have been remise with my blogging, my apologies.....

I've been working for the beginning of the school year. Lets just say I quickly remembered why I dont work anymore. haha. (It has been good for the fuel account though)

Only a small amount of sewing has been done. Some bibs for our new gd. Here is a photo of my hubbie, Macey and I. How quickly they grow.

Another completion is  the Tiny Town runner from Hatched and Patched. I machine appliqued the houses. It fits my coffee table perfectly.

But the best thing to happen this week, was a lovely dinner I went to last night at CHeryll from Gone Stitchin's home. I met some lovely talented ladies with the dinner being a big surprise for Shez's visit. Of course all the ladies had their camera's but alas I didn't but I'm sure they will be posting a few in coming days. Thanks again Cheryll, I had a great night.

Another first ...............

Some of the fabric in my op shop buy was not really to my taste. I decided to make a rag quilt for my pooch, Charlie. I used fleece on the back. Its 36 x48inches, or there abouts.

Wow, my hands are still recovering from all the snipping.

It turned out ok but I dont think I'm a fan. So far Charlie has only sniffered it, maybe he doesnt like it either????

Oh, I have to take that back he's now lying half on it, hahaha. Actually, looking at the pics it doesnt look half bad.
Nice drop of rain today. Hopefully it hasnt bypassed our country cousins.

Bits and bobs.................

Only a little sewing has been happening of late. New additions, childminding and work have got in the way. Plus I must admit, I have a slight case of mojoitis. Dont worry, its not contagious. Lots of lovely things being made by others.
Here are a few things I have done including the heart I sent to lovely Liz at Luv2create.

I also recieved some yummy chocolates and sent Liz a Lindt block.

I made this placemat for our 4year old grandie who was always asking me for her 'special' placemat. She was very happy when she found it on the table.

On a recent op shop visit I bought this bundle of patchwork fabrics. Lots of lovely fabric for $10, a bargain!

Our new arrival ....................

Our second beautiful grandaughter was born on Wednesday afternoon.
Macey Lee 7lb 8oz, 49cm long. Mum is doing well and after a short stay in special nursery, so is Macey.
As you will see, big sister Sophie is besotten. (and so are we).

Isn't she adorable?

A hard lesson learnt......................

I endeavoured to learn new stitches on my secret heart sewing. Nearly two weeks of sewing, in between other things of course. A modern design that when finished I loved until...... I tried to wash the pattern off. Oh my..... dye disaster. I can tell you, there was alot of expletives and a few tears. Apparently hand dyed thread doesnt like to become wet, sob, sob, sob. I cant even show you because I was so annoyed the item was binned. This was my first time using the Cottage Garden Threads, any suggestions for next time?
Needless to say I have had to stitch another item, not as complicated a pattern as I'm running out of time. Hopefully my partner will like it.
I can show you a little wristlet I have made. I made up the design as I went along. Very cute........

My hubbie is still having issues from his bout of shingles. It has been a 'pain' all round.

I have been working on another semi secret item in between making curtains for my very soon to be born gd.

Just the binding to go but I'll tell you the story after I have given this to its new owner.

How are your new year resolutions going? Mine are still hanging there waiting to be acted on, Cant rush these things me thinks.

First timers...................

Happy New Year!

My year has started with me performing nursing duties to my hubbie. He has shingles. The left side of his head is a no go zone. There is no exact timetable for its course, apparently but the sooner it has moved on the better. Like most men, he is not a good patient and I admit my patience is shorter the 'more mature' I get. Thank goodness for my sewing room and ladies blogs.

This is the gift I sent to Michelle at Allthingsrusty in Chookys SSCS. The embroidery pattern is a Cheryl Seslar design.

I love the look of Dresden Plates. I found a tutorial to make a template and 'had a go'. Its is 12inch square and is haning on my mini stand. This is also my first attempt at stipling using my machine. Please note, no quilting police allowed. An interesting process and fun.

Back to the patient....
